Zanzibar Psychiatric Association

The ZPA is a non-governmental organization on Zanzibar, which cares for people with  mental health problems and epilepsy.

People with mental health issues and their relatives face many difficulties. Medication is hard to get by and because of the stigma that surrounds mental illness, there is little support from the local community.

With the provision of expertise, a steady supply of medication, (psycho)education and (vocational) training we want to enable patients  to participate in society.

'People with a mental illness deserve a life without stigma'

We are offering you...

Medication supply
The ZPA - medication program (ZPAM) started on Pemba in 2018. We rented a door from where we are able to supply medication and other needs to our patients.
Membership
Patients can become a member of the ZPA. For a small membership fee we are committed to deliver a steady supply of appropriate medication for a low price.
Rehabilitation centre
We are committed to achieve a rehabilitation center in which patients and their family / relatives, can receive education and training.
Education & training
Educating patients and people close to them, along with  various forms of training is a vital asset for improving the patients quality of life.
Medication delivery service
For many patients, or people close to them, acquiring medication is both time-consuming and costly. Through offering a medication delivery service (MDS) on Pemba, we want to accommodate our members in costs and time.
